Bone Grafting

Explore bone grafting at Apollon Clinic. Understand individual planning, treatment stages, suitability and the questions to discuss with your dentist.

02 · Parts

Three parts. One tooth.

Each implant is planned as three separate parts: the body that sits in the bone, the abutment that connects it, and the visible crown.

03 · Surface

A surface that bonds with the bone.

The roughened titanium surface makes it easier for bone cells to attach.

04 · Treatment

A new tooth, in two stages.

The implant is placed first. Once it has healed, the crown is fitted.

It is basically creating support where it is needed.

Bone grafting may be recommended when the planned implant site does not have enough suitable bone. Graft material is used to support new bone formation in the area.

Planned around your needs

The extent of the deficiency and your general health influence the approach. Ask about the material, its origin, alternatives and whether the procedure changes the overall treatment schedule.

What treatment may involve

A graft may be performed before implant placement or during the same procedure in selected cases. Healing must be assessed before progressing.

What to understand before deciding

Risks include infection, graft exposure, insufficient bone formation and the need for further surgery. Donor-site risks also apply where your own bone is collected.

Are all graft materials the same?

No. Materials may come from your own bone, human donors, animal sources or synthetic substitutes. Discuss any medical, personal or religious concerns before consenting.
